Ipsy: February 2018

I love makeup!

I'm not sure if you know this, but when you become a parent, the first 2 years of your kid's life are all about them, and you start thinking you may never be you again, only mom, or only dad. Your kids need you 24/7 and you're just not sure if they will ever be independent, and then you may decide to have more kids and the process restarts, and all of a sudden it's been years and you have lost sight of your interests, your identity. Maybe you have really grasped the role of parent and you are loving it, but then your youngest turns 2, maybe 3, and they all of a sudden have independence.

It's kind of magical moment, but now your floundering. What do you do with yourself? Sleep? Netflix? All of the above, of course. But if you are like me, that's not enough. You need a hobby. That is what makeup has become for me. I signed up for ipsy and it has been so fun. Every month I get a fun cosmetic bag filled with 5 new makeup items, for only $10! The value is always way more than that. I have now been subscribed for over a year and I am pleased every month. I plan on sharing my bags here every month, feel free to add comments on things you have tried!

MommyCon, not just for Moms (Discount Code Included)

Have you heard of MommyCon? If not, I am here to tell you allllll about it!

To quote MommyCon's website,

"MommyCon is a nationwide convention series dedicated to creating and nurturing a community of parents and parents-to-be in celebration of natural parenting.
MommyCon takes a gentle and positive approach to educating parents about the emotional and physical benefits of natural birthing, breastfeeding and babywearing. We advocate values of holistic health, eco-friendly diapering, child safety standards and procedures, and female self-care and wellness. Our mission is to create a community of support, acceptance and non-judgement for women journeying through parenthood."

MommyCon has entered their 5th year of being in business and they have only grown over the years with no sight of slowing down, as they have now expanded to include a gather conference and a DaddyCon. MommyCon is based out of Chicago, but have convention locations all over the United States. You can see all of their 2018 event locations here
I will be attending my 3rd MommyCon in 10 days and have also attended two gathers and two WEAR conferences, all events put on by MommyCon. It is a conference I can see myself attending long after my kids "age out" because of the friendships I have made and will continue to make with each event.
Even though MommyCon has now launched the DaddyCon conference, neither is exclusive to any parents. All parents/caregivers are welcome at any and all MommyCon events. I have seen many non-moms at MommyCon, everyone is welcome.
What happens at MommyCon? There are education sessions on topics that are relate-able in all stages of parenthood, but especially with expectant to 5 years old. My personal favorites have been Babywearing 101, Baby led weaning, and social media focused chats. This year there are so many new sessions I am looking forward to, like a session on making 6 minute meals, or a potty training session. In addition to the educational sessions, there is a exhibitor hall filled with vendors ranging from small shops, big brands, and community partnerships. There seems to be something for everyone!
If you are reading this I encourage you to head over to MommyCon's website by clicking here, and reading even more. There may just be a MommyCon coming near you this year! If you want to attend MommyCon, I have a discount code for you! During checkout use STMB18 to save 10% on your tickets to any location in 2018! This code has unlimited uses, so share with all of your parent friends!

Giveaway for a Gift Card to Fresh Apparel

I am hosting a mini giveaway for Valentine's Day over on Facebook, just to spread a little love. Click here to see how to enter!

Hello and Welcome!

Welcome!! This is my first blog as Under the Momfluence, but not my first blog ever! It has been many years since I was an active blogger, but I am excited to get back in the flow. I feel like I have so much to re-learn, so be patient with me.

What is Under the Momfluence? This is a platform for me to share my tips for being a mom, my collaborations with other brands and small shops, my passion for makeup, how to take advantage of the local opportunities for family fun, and whatever other fun hobbies I pick up along the way.

Who is Under the Momfluenece? I'm Madelyn. I have been married for 5 years and have two children, both girls. I am located in Racine, Wisconsin. I love working with small shops and I am currently a brand representive for Fresh Apparel Tees, Chompy Chic Chewlery, and Moby. I also closely work with MommyCon and a Street Team member and Parent Squad member and I am always looking for new opportunities.

Why Under the Momfluence? Its kind of punny, right? I consider myself an "influencer" and I am definitely a mom, so it just works!

Thank you so much for joining me here, I can't wait to grow with all of you!
